Known as the rainbow nation, South Africa is rich in history and culture. With nine provinces and eleven official languages, the country’s people groups are as diverse as its terrain.However, the nation remains scarred after Apartheid, a segregated political system which ended in 1991. During this time, all non-whites were forcefully relocated to settlements known as townships, where many remain today. 

 

Because of their extensive drug culture, the townships continue to face challenges of widespread unemployment, gangs, prostitution, violence, and abuse. These communities are in desperate need of restoration that can only come through Jesus. 

 

Through these mission trips to South Africa, BWO’s heart is to see hope restored in the townships and for the people to be reconciled with their heavenly Father. Partnering with Cape Gateway International, your mission team will focus on the townships and prisons in the Cape Town area. Where there is Light, darkness has no place. You can be a catalyst of hope through Jesus and shed His light in places that are longing to know His love.
